World Sight Day 2026: Retina International’s New Digital Home for the Global Retina Community

This World Sight Day, we’re celebrating something that sits at the heart of Retina International: the power of a connected global retina community.

For people living with retinal conditions, access to care and support is about more than treatment. It also means being able to find reliable information, understand your condition, connect with others, access resources and have your voice heard.

That’s why, this World Sight Day, we’re proud to share that Retina International is launching our new website on November 5th, and it is designed to make it easier for our global community to find, understand and engage with the information and opportunities that matter to them.

Why does the new website matter?

As a global alliance of patient-led organisations, we believe better access to information helps people access care, support, and opportunities. The new website brings more of our work and resources together in one place.

By bringing our knowledge, resources, research, advocacy and community together in one accessible space, we are making it easier for people to find what they need, connect with the wider retina community and engage with the work that is shaping the future of the retina community.

What’s New?

  • Find updated, detailed and reliable information about eye conditions.
  • Access resources and toolkits to support individuals, families and patient organisations.
  • Discover research, advocacy and education opportunities across our global network.
  • Connect with the wider retina community and the organisations working to improve lives.
  • Engage with Retina International and, for our members, access a dedicated member portal.
  • Members will be able to make their membership fee payments on the website.
  • Members will be able to access member-only content on their portal login.

As we move into 2027, we’ll continue to develop the website further, adding important toolkits and additional resources to support our community.

Accessibility

Accessibility has been a priority from the very beginning.

We know people with retinal conditions experience sight loss differently and use different ways to access information online. We have therefore worked to make the new website as accessible and easy to use as possible, including through accessibility tools, translation tools and a clearer, more considered approach to how information is presented.

Designed with our community

And very importantly, our community has helped us shape this website.

Members and collaborators from across the retina community have contributed through focus groups, surveys and user testing, sharing their experiences and helping us understand what they need from an RI website. Their input has played an important role in shaping the new experience.

A genuine and sincere thank you to everyone who has contributed.

Launching Soon

As we work towards a world where everyone, everywhere can access the eye care they need, we want people affected by retinal conditions to have the information, resources and community they need to navigate that journey.

We hope you’ll explore the new website when it launches on November 5th, find something useful, and tell us what you think.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to bringing it to life, and we’ll continue listening to our community and using your feedback to make sure the website remains relevant, accessible and useful.

With warmest regards,

Claire Duggan

Head of Communications, Retina International
