World Sight Day RIYC 2024

Retina International hosted a Webinar with the Youth Council and was assisted by the Officers, Cecília Francini Cabral de Vasconcellos (Chair), Vincent Fuchs (Vice Chair) and Marine Leite (Secretary).

The chair and vice-chair also left the possibility open for new activities and invited the community to communicate directly with them.

• Liliane from Canada shared her victories in CrossFit, having even won a medal and participated in adapted CrossFit for people with visual impairments.
• A Brazilian judoka who won a gold medal at Paris 2024 shared the importance of both sports for maintaining focus, organization, and resilience.
• An in-depth presentation on the importance of eye care and the latest updates on retinal diseases, particularly hereditary retinal dystrophies.
• Cecília spoke a bit about the challenges of living with visual impairment and how it impacts people’s quality of life and emotional health.

The most important thing is that we have an active and united community.
