Retina International is pleased to announce that our colleague, Dr. Nabin Paudel, will present groundbreaking research at EURETINA 2025, the leading European congress for retinal specialists and researchers.
The oral presentation, titled “Can large language models improve the readability of online patient education materials on retinal diseases?”, has been selected for Speakers’ Corner 18: Miscellaneous, taking place on 6 September 2025 from 09:30 to 10:30 CEST, with Dr. Paudel speaking from 10:00 to 10:06.
Co-authored by our Scientific Programme Manager, Dr Ellen Moran and our CEO, Avril Daly, this pilot study evaluates whether emerging large language models (LLMs), including ChatGPT, Claude, and DeepSeek, can enhance the clarity and accessibility of online patient education materials (PEMs) related to retinal diseases.
This research investigates how artificial intelligence tools can simplify complex medical content, helping to ensure that all patients, regardless of educational background, can better understand their diagnosis, treatment options, and ongoing care.
This presentation highlights Retina International’s commitment to innovative research, accessible communication, and empowering patients through better information. We look forward to sharing these important findings with the international retina community at EURETINA 2025.
