This multinational study examines the emotional and psychological impact of inherited retinal degenerations (IRDs), exploring the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation among people living with these conditions. The findings highlight the often-overlooked mental health burden associated with IRDs and reinforce the importance of integrating psychological wellbeing into patient care, research, and health policy.
As treatments for inherited retinal diseases continue to advance, understanding the full lived experience of patients has never been more important. Retina International is committed to generating robust patient evidence that informs research, clinical practice, and policy while ensuring that the voices of people living with retinal conditions remain central to innovation.
