Retina Hong Kong is a patient self-help organization composed of patients with retinal degeneration. It was established in March 1995. The original name “Hong Kong Retinitis Pigmentosa Society” is based on Hong Kong Non-profit-making mutual benefit charities registered in Chapter 32 of the Companies Ordinance and Article 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance. In 2002, it was renamed the “Hong Kong Retinopathy Association” to serve people who suffer from the same type of blindness due to heredity.
The Association is committed to promoting scientific research to allow patients to receive appropriate treatment; and advocates appropriate rehabilitation services, encourages patients to help each other and contribute to the community.
