Association between visual acuity and cognitive performance: Evidence from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA)

Association between visual acuity and cognitive performance: Evidence from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA).

This study examined whether poor eyesight is linked to cognitive difficulties in Irish adults aged 50 and over. Using data from The Irish Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA), researchers measured participants’ distance vision and assessed thinking skills, memory and other cognitive abilities using standard tests.

The study investigated whether people with visual impairment were more likely to experience cognitive impairment, taking into account factors such as age, income, lifestyle and general health.
