Retina International is seeking a professional scientist for the role of Research and Innovation Manager.

Reporting to: CEO

Duration: One-year contract

Commencing: 2021

Located: Dublin City/Home office hybrid

The Organisation

Retina International (RI) was established in 1978 as a global umbrella group of patient led charities and foundations who support research into rare, genetically inherited and age related forms of retinal disease that cause progressive vision loss. The mission of RI is to foster research and ensure universal access to diagnosis, care and treatment all those affected by retinal disease regardless of where they live.

The Role

The Research and Innovation Manager will be responsible for developing and project managing global data studies on disease burden and impact. They will be required to manage third party vendors in the facilitation of multistakeholder projects.  They will work closely with the CEO, RI team, global membership, Scientific and Medical Advisory Board (SMAB) and industry partners to develop consensus driven actions in the area of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs), registers and clinical trials. The post holder will engage with member organisations to develop  bespoke focus groups and surveys. They will work with the team to deliver the International World Congress (RIWC) to be held in Iceland June, 2022 and to represent Retina International and present data at international meetings and conferences as required.

Skills

RI is seeking a professional scientist with a proven track record of independent research in the medical or social science space. They will be an experienced project manager, critical thinker, skilled in interpreting and analysing data and possess excellent communication and presentation skills. They will understand the role of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) in medical and social research as well as for advocacy purposes.

Qualifications

Educated to PhD level is preferred in medical research, social policy or public health. MSc will be considered. The successful applicant will be proficient in Microsoft 365. A second language  is preferred but not essential.
