The American Academy of Ophthalmology have revealed the initial findings of their COVID-19 pulse surveys, launched in the USA, to gain a better understanding of the impact that the current pandemic is having on ophthalmology practices and their patients.
The first of these surveys focused directly on the impact that COVID-19 is having on private practices. Responders to the survey have raised concerns that without significant financial federal support, they will be forced to downsize their practice and will have serious monetary issues.
This federal assistance is essential if these practices are to continue providing appropriate treatment and care to their patients during COVID-19, but according to the survey responses, applying for and receiving federal grant and loan programs is a considerable challenge
